April Sneak Peek

Technique Tuesday with Jennifer Longenecker

Today I wanted to show you how to make this cute little tin using the new Butterfly Garden line from Pink Paislee, a Maya Road tin, and a little floral foam. Step 1: Gather your supplies. I chose to cut out the butterflies, flowers, and fair from the Butterfly Wings paper, but the clear pops would have been really cool for this project too. Step 2: Cut the images out. Step 3: Adhere the flowers and fairy to the tin using Glossy Accents and some pop dots to add dimension. Step 4: Add some of the fabulous AMM trim to the bottom of the tin. Step 5: Cut some floral foam to fit inside the tin. Step 6: Hot glue some green moss on top of the floral foam making sure to conceal it completely. Step 7: Add the flowers to floral pins or heavy gage wire. I didn't have anything heavy enough so I had to roll out a length of wire, fold it in half, twist it, fold it in half again, and twist it again to get the strength I needed. I hope you enjoyed this quick little project.

Member Monday with Staci Taylor

We are back with Member Monday! Yay! Each week one of our design team members will choose a LO from the AMM gallery that inspires them and then we will feature that artist here on the AMM blog.

This week Staci Taylor chose this LO by Gisele.

Staci also asked Gisele a few questions to help us get to know her better.

What inspired you to create this layout, and can you give us some tips on any techniques you used?

I wanted to try out some new stamps and do something for me. I used a lot of stamps, paint in the back, use "Prima" flowers (I love it) and a Martha Stewart border punch. Loved the result!

How long have you been scrapping?

I have been scrapping for one and a half years.

What are your favorite techniques?

I love stamps, but all techniques can do wonderful things, it's a matter of imagination and creativity.

What inspires you?

My inspiration comes from family and friends, especially to register those unique moments to remember.

Thanks so much Gisele for sharing your LO with us and for letting us get to know you better.

Little Something Sunday with Zoe Nemburt

I’m in love with the Chalkboard Glimmer mists. They have much more vibrant colors than the regular mists, and a much better coverage with less sprays and less warping. Today I wanted to show you a couple of layouts using different Glimmer Screens.

For the first layout I created a background using a doily.

I sprayed evenly but kept to spraying around the edges of the doily as I wanted the color to fade into the white cardstock. Note that on my next layout I sprayed the chalk up to the edges of my cardstock to get the best coverage.

Put the doily aside to dry you can use it later on another project. Here is what the background looks like once you have finished the layout, the chalk in the background gives so much more depth to the layout and a real zing of colour.

On this layout I used the same color of chalk, but I cut a 12x5 scrap piece of cardstock and layered glimmer screens over the top. Once I removed them I was left with a shock of white with the design of the Glimmer Screens peeking out. I think this could be my favourite misting technique!! If your feeling adventurous you could stitch around the lines to make them more dominant.

Happy Scrapping.
