Katie Watson Special Guest Designer

Our special guest designer for our November kit is the fun and talented Katie Watson. I have been an admirer of Katie's for several years and when I first purchased AMM, I contacted her to see if she might be interested in joining the design team of a kit club and she said that she would!

Katie later moved on and is now on the Pink Paislee and Maya Road Design teams. I follow her work religiously and was very excited when she agreed to come back this month to design with our kits again. Stay tuned to see her creations. I haven't even seen them yet, but I know they will be incredibly inspiring!!!

Pretty New Narratives

We have more of the new Narratives papers and some really pretty embellishments in today. They are SO PRETTY! Gosh, this line never disappoints me! Other news, our Hot Bargain of the Day today includes some of the BIG BOARD CHIPBOARD by Fancy pants. They are 12 x 12 sheets of chipboard with various shapes and there is 3 in every pack and they are only $7.50 TODAY!!!!

Now go have some fun shopping with this fun stuff!

Carving Time!

It must be the season cause all I can think of is the holidays lately. Last night I came home, determined to carve our pumpkin. Where I grew up we didn't have Halloween and that must be why I really love all the traditions around it. Last year was the first time I ever carved and I thought it turned out pretty cute, if I say so myself.

So this year, I wanted to make sure it was at least as cute as last year. Here's what I came up with. What do you think?

I'll take more shots at night with the light but you can get the gist this way. Now it's your turn, show me your pumpkins!!!

'Tis the Season

I know it might seem too soon to start thinking about Christmas already but depending on how you like to celebrate the season, it's never too soon to get prepared. Last year, I took Shimelle's class and I loved putting an album together throughout the month. It was definitely one of my favorite projects. You can see my album here.

So, when I saw Ali Edward's post on her December daily preparation it reminded me that it's time to start thinking about this holiday season. This year, I am planning to follow along with Ali and create my own December daily album. I might or might not use Shimelle's prompts but I will make a daily page in the month of December. Since, for me, New Year's is a bigger holiday than Christmas, I plan to have my album go all the way to the end of the month but you are always free to do what works for you.

The trick to actually doing a page a day in December is to plan ahead as much as possible so that you have everything you need to create at your fingertips and as much of the album put together ahead of time as possible. In an effort to get myself organized, I've decided to go perusing the AMM store. In case you're thinking of doing a December Daily as well, I figured I'll share my findings with you and maybe in the comments you can share yours with me.

Let's start with albums: Last year Ali did an acrylic album with lots of odds and ends pages. I am not sure I want to go with acrylic but I like the odds and ends idea so I figure I can start with something like this tabbed BasicGrey album and add pages from other BG albums or even some Cosmo ones. Or I can go more traditional and pick one of these Boho albums. I could even go completely untraditional and use one of these stunning easel albums.

I am still not sure of my album, but my current hunch is to go with something like the BasicGrey one. What do you think?

Once I pick my album, the next set is to get my papers and embellishments together. Embellishments are easier for me since I sort everything by color. So I usually start with the paper. Here are some gems I found at the store: (Clicking on any of the photos will link you back to that paper line or product.)

and what holiday book is complete without some glimmer, ribbon, and some bling.

The thing is, I am not Christian, so I am not officially supposed to celebrate Christmas. But I grew up in a country where we celebrate New Year's and we put up trees and do a lot of what Americans do for Christmas so I generally celebrate the month in my own way. If you're less traditional like I am, you don't have to use these products, you can choose your own colors and your own style. The idea is just to celebrate the holidays and to do in-the-moment scrapbooking which is really very special.

One last note, last year, I had one continuing theme in all my pages, a small metal Christmas tree with a stamped ornament with that day's date on it. I found that having that small continuing theme really helped me and makes the album look more pleasant (at least to me!)

So what do you think? Are you ready to join in and do your own December Daily? Have you found some gems at the AMM store?

Here are a few sneak peeks:

New Class By Karen Grunberg

You might know her at AMM as Karenika. She is on the AMM design team and is probably one of the kindest people you would ever meet. Well, she is teaching a new online course at NYC Scraps about mini books called "Holiday Mini Book Formulas". If you know anything about Karen, she is all about the journaling. She is the kind of person that takes scrapbooking seriously because it is all about the story and the art is all very personal. It is not to be judged because it is just about YOU. She can put this much more eloquently than I can, LOL. You can check out her challenge blog too. It is called Creative Therapy and there is a link for it on the sidebar on this blog. This particular week was very moving for me because it was about documenting your most prized possession. Their guest designer this week was Melody Ross of Chatterbox and her work and her WORDS inspired me so much that I immediately did something of my own on it. It was very moving, so I encourage you to go and read it.

Do you know Lori Gentile?

I met Lori through AMM about a year ago. Every time she would post in the gallery, I would smile and wish I could bottle up some of her creativity and use it as my own. A few months ago, we were fortunate enough to get her on our design team and I am still SO excited that she has joined us. Well, today, as I was looking through the fabulous AMM gallery, I came across one of the projects that she did for Creative Imaginations when she was their guest designer in August. She used the Narratives papers to create this lovely layout and I just LOVE IT! I love orange in layouts and I am a HUGE fan of Creative Imaginations and ADORE their design team coordinator, Cheryl Mezzetti. She is SUCH a lovely woman with SO much talent. I often go to her blog for inspiration and hope for sneak peeks of new CI products because they are my favorites. Well, anyway, I wanted to share this REALLY pretty project by Lori (sorry about the CI tangent ~ I just heart them).

You can find the papers that Lori used for this layout HERE and HERE and we have the ribbon that she used HERE . See those really pretty flowers that she made for this layout? She made a tutorial on how to do them HERE. They are flocked! You can find the tutorial on our message boards, where our designers also post free digital downloads of journaling cards, sketches and instructions on some of the layouts that they have created with our monthly kits.

Thanks!

November Kit!!!

Want to see a sneak peek?? Gorgeous isn't it?!

What a mess!

I know that I have to go through it, but it's hard. Not that I'm a real good housewife, I'm pretty messy myself, but this is really really really messy!!

Yes, we are getting a new kitchen. We had a small one, and now we're going to have a lot more space to put all our stuff in. And we are also going to have an oven! yay! ( that means; PIZZA!)

And another positive thing about it all is that the crockery set that is now in a cupboard in the livingroom will be kept in the new kitchen....and that means more space in the cupboard for scrapstuff! ;-)

Here the pictures of what it looks now.....

By the way, we didn't bury someone under the cement...;-)

New Limited edition Kits available now
